Congratulations on Earning Your Certification! Now that you are a certified professional, keeping your credential in good standing is essential. You are responsible for completing annual continuing education requirements and renewing your certification before it expires.
To help you stay on track, please review the following resources:
- Candidate Guide: Maintenance & Renewal Process – Detailed policies and procedures for maintaining your certification.
- Certification Renewal Process Guidelines – Step-by-step instructions to successfully renew your credential.
REMINDER:
Credential renewal is an individual responsibility, even if someone else is paying fees on your behalf. The recommended method is to pay your certification fees online from your FCB account.
Renewal payments received during the late period will incur a $50 late fee per credential. If the credential is not renewed by the last date of the late period, the credential will automatically be placed on inactive status, and you will be required to meet all reinstatement requirements, which may include retaking the exam.
Credential Expiration Dates and Renewal Cycles
The FCB has three renewal cycles. It is essential to know when the renewal cycle opens and closes for your credential(s). Failure to renew your credential(s) during the renewal cycle could result in late fees, possible retesting, and other penalties.
Credential Expiration | Renewal Period | Late Period | Inactive Period |
June 30th – Annual MCAP, CAP, CAC, CAS, CCJAP, CCJAC, CCJAS, CPP, CPS, CGAC, CTTS, CTP, CRSS, CBHT, CMHP, CRPS, CRRA | May 1 – June 30 | July 1 – 31 | August 1 and later |

Paying your Renewal Online
As shown in the chart above, you can pay online through your FCB account during your renewal period.
Tutorials – ‘How to Set up an Account’ and ‘How to Renew’
Before an application is made or a credential is renewed, you must create or reactivate an account. The FCB has a new renewal process that requires credential holders to complete a brief Renewal Application. This process also requires each credential to be renewed separately, meaning each credential has its own Renewal Application and payment.
To access the Renewal Application, you must reactivate your online account, which was previously stored in our system. Please review the following video tutorials for complete information about “How To” reactivate your account and complete the renewal process.

Child Welfare Credential Reactivation and Reinstatement
The FCB’s Child Welfare Credential Reactivation and Reinstatement program replaces the FCB Workforce/Caseload Relief Reinstatement Program and reflects an updated policy for reactivating or reinstating expired child welfare credentials. Please click on the Child Welfare Late Period, Reactivate, Reinstatement Policy, and Application, and complete the form as directed.
Please contact amoore@flcertificationboard.org if you have any questions.
Continuing Education (CE) Requirements
Through ongoing education and training, certified professionals must maintain their knowledge and skill base. Each FCB credential has a minimum number of continuing education (CE) hours that must be completed each year. Carefully review your credentials’ Standards and Requirements Tables for details about your continuing education requirement.
