Our mission is to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Florida.
The Florida Certification Board (FCB) designs, develops, and manages programs for over 30 health and human services professions, certifying more than 20,000 professionals statewide. These professionals include those in the fields of child welfare, mental health, addiction, and healthcare, ensuring they meet specific education, training, experience, and testing criteria.
We continue to progress our mission by regulating certified professionals through experience, education, and compliance, which includes the following:
- Establishing, administering, and monitoring all certification programs, continually adding new professions.
- Participating in legislative advocacy and ensuring that our partners have a voice in the political process.
- Establishing one of the country’s most successful Political Action Committee funds.
- Administering programs directly related to workforce development.
Nationally recognized experts lead our team with extensive experience developing, implementing, and administering certification programs. Certification specialists, test development professionals, and workforce experts are available to assist representatives from various professions in developing new certification or credentialing programs.
Our History
The FCB began as a grass-roots movement in human services professions. Employers wanted to ensure their employees possessed the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to safely and competently serve people in need. Over the last 30 years, the FCB has expanded tremendously. FCB is the state’s premier non-profit organization that protects Florida’s most vulnerable residents’ health, safety, and welfare by certifying and regulating the professionals who serve them.
