Provisionally certified child welfare professionals must complete all on-the-job requirements and apply for an upgrade to full certification before their provisional credential expires. The upgrade process is coordinated through the individual’s employer, specifically the designated Single Point of Contact.

Upgrade Application Requirements

To allow time for processing, the Florida Certification Board (FCB) requires that the application, mandatory forms, supporting documentation, and certification fee be submitted at least 10 business days prior to the provisional credential’s expiration date.

Steps to Complete the Upgrade

  1. Create and submit an online Provisional Upgrade Application with FCB.
  2. Pay the certification application fee (unless paid by your employer).
  3. During the provisional period, the following mandatory forms must be downloaded, completed, and submitted to FCB by the employer’s Point of Contact:

Once all requirements are met and approved, the FCB will issue the full credential (CWPI, CWCM, or CWLC).

  • If your credential is awarded between November and July, the first renewal date will be October 31st of the same year.
  • If your credential is awarded in August, September, or October, the first renewal will be October 31st of the following year.
